In 2004, the CNA Foundation contributed more than $3 million to the development of communities through civic involvement, volunteerism and the funding of vital programs. The CNA Foundation plays an essential role in building stronger relationships with the people we serve. The CNA Foundation Guidelines concentrate support primarily in programs designed to:
- Meet the educational needs of children
- Assist and support children, youth and adults in developing vocational and education skills
- Support economically disadvantaged children and families

The USO of Illinois and Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago are two examples of the types of programs sponsored through the CNA Foundation. The Foundation also runs a Matching Gift Program, which recognizes employees´ generosity by matching their donations to organizations that meet CNA´s matching gift guidelines.
To apply for a grant from the Foundation, applicants must submit an application and proposal. Requests for funding are accepted year-round. However, grants will be made only in accordance with the Foundation´s budgetary guidelines.
