CNA At A Glance (PDF, 95kb)

At CNA, we understand the importance of building lasting relationships with the communities where we live and work. CNA shares our success with communities in a variety of ways. CNA employees invest their time in volunteer initiatives and donate monetary contributions to aid our community partners in local efforts. The CNA Foundation plays an essential role in funding vital programs. This giving strategy is reflected in our major initiatives: Starlight Starbright Children's FoundationBoys & Girls Clubs of Chicago; USO of Illinois; and various Scholarship Programs.

Whether we are building a playground, walking for an important cause, partnering with a school or funding a program that helps develop vocational and education skills of children or adults, CNA is proud to play an active role at the local level. As we strengthen our communities, we find ourselves growing stronger as well. By focusing our resources, we have the power to make a real difference in the lives of many people.

INVESTING IN OUR COMMUNITIES
CNA invests in our communities in many ways. In 2003, we expanded our outreach with the CNA Foundation´s unanimous approval of the implementation of the Community Involvement Grant (CIG) Awards. Through this program, money is made available to charitable organizations in each of our five regions. The CIG guidelines extend the areas of support beyond the Foundation´s primary focus so that local leadership has greater flexibility in forging relationships within their communities.

VOLUNTEERISM
CNA employees want to work for a company that cares. Equally important, they want to be involved in activities where they can make a difference. On a national level, more than 6,000 employees have rolled up their sleeves and grabbed a hammer or a tarp full of mulch to help construct a desperately needed playground in almost 40 communities across the country. CNA employees nationwide have taken steps to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars in support of important causes such as the American Cancer Society, the United Negro College Fund and the March of Dimes. These efforts are in addition to the countless other local activities happening in CNA communities across the country. CNA Volunteerism

The USO of Illinois and Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago are two examples of the types of programs sponsored through the CNA Foundation. The Foundation also runs a Matching Gift Program, which recognizes employees´ generosity by matching their donations to organizations that meet CNA´s matching gift guidelines.

To apply for a grant from the Foundation, applicants must submit an application and proposal. Requests for funding are accepted year-round. However, grants will be made only in accordance with the Foundation´s budgetary guidelines.
